Texas
Hold'Em, Tournaments and More
There are many variations on the poker theme. If you are to only learn
one then we recommend learning how to play Texas Hold'em. It is the
most widely played game and is the variation that is played at all
of the major events such as the World Series of Poker or the WPT.
The aim of Texas Hold'em is to make the best five card hand out of
your two cards and the five community cards on the table. First you
are dealt your two hole cards. Three community cards are dealt known
as the flop, then another as the turn and finally the last card the
river.
Between each deal is a betting round where players can call, raise,
check or fold. At the end of the hand there is a showdown between
any remaining players vying for the pot. The highest hand takes it
all and wins the pot. There are a wide range of betting limits on
poker games. Online these range from as little as $0.50/$1 to the
highest type the no limit game.
Playing online has some great advantages as you can quickly improve
your skills by coming up against players of varying skill levels.
If you have never played you can hone your skills on the free tables.
In addition there are thousands of tournaments being played online
daily. These include qualifiers into land tournaments such as the
World Poker Tour. |
